He holds a Doctorate in Communication and Media from the University of Western Sydney, Australia, a Master of Science Degree in Communications from Eastern Washington University, U.S.A and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Journalism from Whitworth College, U.S.A.

JOURNALISM CAREER

MEDIA, FILM WORK, BOOKS AND MAGAZINES

Dr. Alfred Mutua began his career as journalist while still in high school, publishing his first article in the daily newspapers at the age of 15. After high school, he wrote features in local newspapers such as the Standard Newspaper, Daily Nation, NTV and the defunct Kenya Times Newspaper. Thereafter, while in the United States for further education and produced a documentary known as “An African in America“. Additionally he was also a lecturer for communications and media at the University of Western Sydney and the prestigious Zayed University in the U.A.E. He also published the Kenyan PASSION magazine and books such as “How to be rich in Africa and other secret survivals”, as well as, produced films such as “Cobra Squad”, “Beba Beba” and “How to be Rich in Africa”.

GOVERNMENT SERVICES

From 2002 to 2012, Dr. Alfred Mutua was appointed as the Government of Kenya Spokesperson.

GOVERNANCE

In 2013, Dr. Alfred Mutua contested for Machakos County Gubernatorial and won. Thereafter his first term in 2017, he successfully defended his gubernatorial seat under his newly formed Maendeleo Chap Chap Party.

In his tenure as Governor of Machakos, he used good and effective leadership to attain sustainable socio-economic development of Machakos County. As a result, Dr. Alfred Mutua was crowned “Best Governor in Africa, 2021” by the Africa Illustrious Awards for improving the livelihoods of the residents of Machakos County.

ANTI-CORRUPTION CRUSADER

Dr. Alfred Mutua is a champion in the fight against corruption. For example he challenged the government to audit all government civil servants lifestyle. As a result, this was implemented by President Uhuru Kenyatta and therefore, all government civil servants in Kenya are subjected to a lifestyle audit by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission.
